Victim identified in deadly North Charleston apartment complex shooting

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) — The Dorchester County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim of a Wednesday night shooting.

Kendall Tyshaun Merrick, 24, of Summerville was shot at about 4:45 p.m. that day, Coroner Paul Brouthers said. Merrick was pronounced dead at the scene around 5:20 p.m.

Julian Shane Issa, 21, of Summerville, was charged with involuntary manslaughter in connection to this shooting.

An officer was flagged down at the Kilnsea Village Apartments at the 5300 Patron Place in reports of a shooting just before 5 p.m. Upon arrival, they located a man suffering from a gunshot wound, now identified as Merrick, in the complex’s parking lot.

The officer began performing life-saving measures, but they ultimately could not prevent Merrick’s death.

Issa is being held at the Dorchester County Jail.
