CofC drops opener to South Alabama, 16-2

MT PLEASANT, S.C. – College of Charleston baseball lost 16-2 in seven innings Friday afternoon at Patriots Point.

CRITICAL POINTS AGAINST SOUTH ALABAMA:

  • South Alabama jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first and didn’t go away, scoring runs in six of the seven frames.
  • Senior Payton Frehner knocked in both runs for CofC on a two-run single in the fourth.

OF NOTE:

  • Charleston is 5-2 all-time against South Alabama.
  • Freshman Will Burgess made his collegiate debut, pinch hitting in the sixth.
  • Redshirt sophomore Asher Lucas collected his first career strikeout.
