CofC drops opener to South Alabama, 16-2

MT PLEASANT, S.C. – College of Charleston baseball lost 16-2 in seven innings Friday afternoon at Patriots Point.
CRITICAL POINTS AGAINST SOUTH ALABAMA:
- South Alabama jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first and didn’t go away, scoring runs in six of the seven frames.
- Senior Payton Frehner knocked in both runs for CofC on a two-run single in the fourth.
OF NOTE:
- Charleston is 5-2 all-time against South Alabama.
- Freshman Will Burgess made his collegiate debut, pinch hitting in the sixth.
- Redshirt sophomore Asher Lucas collected his first career strikeout.
UP NEXT:
Charleston continues play against South Alabama Saturday with a 2 p.m. first pitch from Patriots Point.
