Missing 15-year-old boy found dead nearly 2 months after he vanished, police say
(Gray News) - A 15-year-old boy in New York who went missing nearly two months ago was found dead, police said.
Thomas Medlin’s body was recovered off the waters of Red Hook, a neighborhood in Brooklyn on March 7, Suffolk County police said in a news release.

Medlin went missing Friday, Jan. 9, after going from his Long Island home to Manhattan after school.
Medlin left Stony Brook School that Friday about 3:30 p.m. and “ran” to the Stony Brook Long Island Rail Road station, where he seemingly caught a train into Manhattan.

Medlin’s mother, Eva Yan, told News 12 that she believed the teen was heading into the city to meet someone he became friends with through Roblox.
However, in a Jan. 26 update, police said they hadn’t found any proof of that.
“Under the issuance of subpoenas and search warrants, an examination so far of multiple social media/online gaming profiles and forensic examination of electronic devices associated with Medlin was conducted,” police said in their statement. “This examination has determined these platforms are not connected to his disappearance.”
Police said he was last seen on surveillance footage walking across the Manhattan Bridge the night he went missing. That’s where police said the camera captured a splash in the water.
He was never seen leaving the bridge.
Police said there was “no indication of criminal activity” at the time.
