Emily Benito
Reporter

During her time in Reno, Emily has covered a variety of topics from our city’s dangerous underbelly of human trafficking to natural disasters like the Davis Fire that threatened our home.
After saying she would NEVER do the weather (as she was terrified of ad-libbing and being on the weather wall) she took on the role of becoming the weekend weather anchor alongside co-worker Ben Deach. Emily says this experience has allowed her to hone her live reporting skills, and gives her an opportunity to add personality, and hopefully a few laughs, to each newscast.
Before coming to Reno, she studied at The University of Alabama and worked as a reporter for WVUA 23, covering a variety of stories including an unsolved murder case.
She earned a bachelor's degree in News Media from the UA College of Communication and Information Sciences and pursued a minor in Cultural and Global Perspectives while studying and living in Florence, Italy.
She enjoys writing for magazines, hiking, skiing, and of course, horseback riding. These passions all contributed to her finding a new home right here in the Biggest Little City in the World. She has a passion to meet new people, share stories, and build strong connections within her community.
She loves to hear from viewers! For any story ideas or just to say hi, send her an email at Emily.benito@kolotv.com !
