What’s Driving You Crazy: SCDOT proposes $10M upgrades to I-26 rest area
CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - The South Carolina Department of Transportation wants feedback on its plan to replace the facilities on the I-26 eastbound rest area in Charleston County.
The rest area is just past College Park Road as you drive toward downtown Charleston.
You can comment on the plans through Feb. 17. SCDOT staff say the work would include preliminary engineering, right of way and construction. Those cost breakdowns are below:
- Preliminary engineering: $1,000,000
- Right of Way: $250,000
- Construction: $8,250,000
You can give you feedback on what you’d like to see by clicking here. There are no plans to re-open the closed rest area on the westbound side of I-26 near College Park Road, but the area could be used for different projects.
