Colleton Co. Fire-Rescue crews use chain saw to free woman trapped in car
COLLETON COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) - A woman has been hospitalized after a crash left her trapped in her vehicle.
Colleton County Fire-Rescue says they responded to the crash at 7:24 a.m. Thursday after a Honda Accord headed south on I-95 swerved on the road to avoid a tire.
The driver lost control of the car, hitting a guard rail and ending up among the trees.

Fire-Rescue officials say she suffered non-life-threatening injuries but was trapped in the car by the damage.
Crews used a chain saw to cut away debris so that they could access the driver’s side of the car and used hydraulic extraction rescue tools to remove the driver’s door.

The driver was removed, placed on a stretcher and carried up the embankment to the ambulance. She was treated at the scene before being taken to Colleton Medical Center for further care.

The roadway was down to one lane for about 30 minutes.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
