ORANGEBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) - The Orangeburg County Coroner’s Office has released the name of the victim who died in Saturday’s two-vehicle collision.

Shedrick Calloway Jr., 28 of Orangeburg, died because of blunt force injuries from the collision, according to coroner Sean Fogle.

Lance Corp. Lena Butler says the crash happened Saturday at approximately 5:30 p.m. on Highway 178 near Kennerly Road, about half a mile west of Orangeburg.

She says a 2013 Honda Accord was traveling east and a 1997 Ford Expedition was traveling west when they collided on the highway.

Calloway, the driver and the sole occupant of the 2013 Honda Accord, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Butler says the driver was the sole occupant in the 1997 Ford Expedition and did not clarify the extent of their injuries.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating.
