Early voting begins in two Charleston County special elections
CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) - Early voting is now open for two special elections set to take place March 25.
Courtney Waters is already the presumptive victor for South Carolina House District 113, as her run is now unopposed. She beat two fellow Democrats in the primary earlier this year vying to replace Representative Marvin Pendarvis.
Pendarvis vacated that seat after the State Law Enforcement Division opened an investigation into his law practice.
Meanwhile, in the Town of Mount Pleasant, 10 candidates are hoping to fill Carl Ritchie’s seat. Ritchie was elected in November to be the Charleston County Sheriff.
Early voting is open from March 10-21, weekdays from 8:30 until 5 p.m. at the Charleston County Board of Voter Registration and Elections Headquarters.
The Mount Pleasant candidates are as follows:
- Jordan Bryngelson
- Gary Davis
- Brianna Harmon
- Derek Johnson
- Garrett Lacy
- David Smith
- David Spedden
- Bob Swain
- Mike Tinkey
- Mike Van Horn Sr.
