Gas prices over Memorial Day weekend hit lowest in 4 years

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - Gas prices this Memorial Day weekend have hit the lowest they have been since 2021.

The average price of gas in the U.S. is $3.18, compared to the staggering average prices of $4.60 per gallon in 2022, according to an American Automobile Association report.

Gas prices are even lower throughout the Palmetto State. AAA shows the average price in the state being at $2.75 per gallon. The cheapest gas prices in the Tri-County area are in Dorchester County with an average price of $2.70 per gallon.

South Carolina ranks as the seventh cheapest in the country for gas.

South Carolina is also the seventh most expensive state for public electric vehicle charging as of last week.
